An American Girl Tea Party

My older girl s received these sweet American Girl cookbooks in their Easter baskets this year (found on the bargain shelf at Borders for $5.00!)

As soon as they flipped through them, they wanted to host a tea party.  Their Grandma and Grandpa are visiting us this week, so this became a wonderful activity for them from the cooking to the decorating to the cleaning up!

We made chicken salad tea sandwiches:
We also made walnut and cream cheese tea sandwiches, cucumber and cream cheese tea sandwiches, fruited iced tea, and fresh strawberries with a Devonshire cream:
The girls set the table with table talkers and made the place cards:
They did a wonderful job and many great memories were made!

This post is linked to Making Memories Monday at Adventures in McQuill-land and Snoring Scholar's Family Fun Friday.

  1. How adorable your girls are. The table looks so inviting. I love it when things like this come together.

  2. The table looks lovely, as do the girls. What a fun time for all, and what a wonderful learning experience for the girls. I can just see them hosting afternoon teas for their friends, bridal showers, Bible Study luncheons... oh, the opportunities over the years will be numerous... and then they'll remember: it all started with an American Girl Tea Party for Grandma and Grandpa. Sigh! Thank you for linking up to Making Memories Monday and sharing this memory. You've truly painted a lovely picture!

  3. I have 4 boys and we love having tea parties, too...but they don't involve the American Girls, LOL. The food is the main draw for them. We love scones with homemade devonshire cream.

  4. Awww, I just love how you took pictures of the place cards! They make such a pretty touch to things!
